Sure, you can cut and paste RPG code into PC files, but did you know that you can cut and paste RPG code from PC files and the Internet into a source file on the iSeries? Simply highlight the code from the PC file or Internet site and press CTL + C to copy. Then open with SEU a new or existing source file to which you have added enough blank lines to hold your copied code, and click the Paste button on the Client Access tool bar.

USER FEEDBACK TO THIS TIP

  • I have found that the described solution is very limited. What I do is to use SEU to create the file. Then I use OpsNav to select the created member under File System -- QSYS.LIB -- YOURLIB, right click, select edit, and paste any amount of code into the file. Then, I switch back to SEU and compile or debug the code as necessary. I always work with both OpsNav and an emulator open. — Richard Marquardt
