I've been racking my brain for a tip that is simple, used daily, but is trickier than it seems. Then a colleague of mine asked me how to add an auto start job entry to QCTL. After I did it, it all came flooding back into his head, one that he had banged against a wall for an hour trying to remember. The jobd and request data threw him. So here goes!
This example will run a program WINACAMERA from library QGPL in qctl every time the subsystem starts.
ADDAJE SBSD(QCTL) JOB(WINACAMERA) JOBD(QGPL/WINACAMERA) CRTJOBD JOBD(WINACAMERA) JOBQ(QCTL) RQSDTA(Call qgpl/winacamera)
The next time the subsystem starts your job will run. If this prevents one of you -- my fellow iSeries 400 compatriots -- from denting the wall and visiting casualty I will be happy.
