LANSA expands UCCnet data synchronization resources with Hanley Wood e-Media

LANSA and Hanley Wood e-Media have joined forces in a partnership agreement to help manufacturers of building products prepare data for UCCnet services. Hanley Wood e-Media is a UCC-certified UCCnet Implementation and Consulting Solution Partner and LANSA is a certified full solution partner which offers LANSA Data Sync Direct. Together the two companies will be able to effectively move hardlines manufacturing companies toward registering their GTINs through the UCCnet GLOBALregistry" service and subsequently publishing those GTINs to their retail trading partners.

Hanley Wood, LLC, a Business-to-Business media company in the United States, with magazines, Web sites, trade shows and a marketing agency focused on the residential construction market. The Hanley Wood e-Media flagship Web site,, includes a database containing detailed records of approximately 220,000 building product records from more than 250 manufacturers in some 300 product categories. The data aggregation and normalization skills used to create the ebuild database can be effectively applied to help individual manufacturing firms create their UCCnet services-compliant catalogs.

Wayne Pignolet, general manager, electronic catalog services, with Hanley Wood e-Media, said, "While most Solution Partners offer UCCnet services-compliant software for catalog creation, connectivity and messaging, few offer the data aggregation and normalization competencies or the hardlines product expertise that e-Media brings to these manufacturers. In many cases, we already have all the company's product information."

According to an article by Kara Romanow and Kevin Scott, "Data Synchronization Has Simply Become a Cost of Doing Business," The AMR Research Report, April 14, 2003, "data preparation and cleansing will consume 60 percent of the total time and 45 percent of the total budget for a typical data synchronization project." This forecast would suggest that e-Media's competencies will be in great demand as UCCnet implementations accelerate with the hardlines vertical and add much value to LANSA's technology solution.

Bill Hood, vice president of marketing at LANSA commented, "Hanley Wood e-Media's offering for hardlines suppliers, which includes data preparation and cleansing assistance, is a requirement for most suppliers. The addition of Hanley Wood e-Media to the LANSA Partner Program is of great benefit to our customers in providing a critical component for UCCnet on-boarding services.

LANSA Data Sync Direct provides the ability to offer either hosted capability or behind-the-firewall direct integration capability to their subscriber base. The certified solution offers the same interface allowing suppliers to migrate from hosted to integrated, based on their volume of GTIN activity.
