IBM offers iSeries service voucher

IBM is offering a one-day service voucher to help SMBs get up and running on a Model 810 iSeries.

IBM iSeries chief Al Zollar is offering a carrot stick of sorts to customers considering moving up to the Model 810 Enterprise Edition iSeries.

When you buy a Model Enterprise Edition, IBM will include a voucher for Linux, Windows, WebSphere or Lotus installation services. The offer represents an attempt to help midsized customers get up and running, faster and cheaper. The voucher amounts to about 10 hours of "getting started" services.

"Extending a service voucher for the Model 810 will make it easier for more of our customers to simplify their IT infrastructures or deploy new on demand solutions," Zollar told attendees at the company's PartnerWorld conference in Las Vegas this week.

In addition, IBM is announcing two new e-business hosting offerings based on iSeries servers, allowing customers to have both dedicated computing and on-demand computing using iSeries servers.

IBM is also expanding its collaboration with its business partners to deliver e-business hosting services for small and medium-sized customers based on the iSeries platform.
