RJS adds several key features to Web-based document imaging

RJS Software Systems Inc., a leading provider of AS/400-iSeries report and data delivery software, has added several key new features to Image Server/400, its Web-based iSeries document imaging product.

Since its introduction in early 2002, Image Server/400 has become a popular alternative to historically expensive iSeries document imaging and management software systems. Responding to customer requests, RJS has added the following features:

Document workflow. Workflow provides the ability to track a document throughout the system and route the document to appropriate users at the right time. Workflow is a great way to help end the paper trail that many companies face today.

Zone OCR indexing. This feature can be used to extract key information from a selected location within an image document. This feature can minimize the hand keying of index information when scanning a document.

Full text indexing of image documents, word documents and Adobe Acrobat PDF documents. When a document is scanned or imported into Image Server/400, all text from the documents can be extracted and stored in a full text index database for refined keyword searching of the entire document text.

Barcode indexing. This feature can be used to automatically read barcode information from a scanned document for indexing purposes.

Screen scraping of index information. For customers who do not have access to their application source code, 5250 screen scraping can be used to extract information from their 5250 application screens to avoid manually entering index values.

Automated batch import of documents from other applications. The batch import server program can be used to automatically import and index multiple images and documents created from applications outside of Image Server/400.

For AS/400–iSeries users who want to incorporate document imaging and management with their iSeries systems, Image Server/400 is an affordable browser based solution.
