Kisco Information Systems announced the immediate availability of version 6.0 of its WebReport/400 package. WebReport/400 is an e-business utility for automatically converting iSeries and AS/400 reports and distributing them in email, or as internet/intranet content. The new version features several customer requested enhancements including, among other things, support for color AFP overlays and support for converting spool files into CSVs.
When sending a report as a PDF attachment, WebReport/400 has the ability to incorporate a forms overlay. This capability has been in the product for a while and allows you to send out nicely formatted invoices, statements, purchase order and so on. This capability has been considerably enhanced in v6.0 to support the use of color in the overlay.
The second major enhance to WebReport v6.0 is the CSV conversion utility. This feature includes an intelligent spool file interpreter that will reformat a report into a CSV file, allowing you to distribute reports in a format that users can easily load into an electronic spreadsheet.
Other enhancements in the new version include the ability to associate different recipient names and sender names with email. Prior to v6.0, there were no options and a default recipient name was put on outbound emails. Also, an optional built-in security feature lets you limit who can use the product, based on user profile. When this option is activated, if any user who is not enrolled for WebReport/400 access attempts to use the product, they will be blocked.
In the message and report formatting area, the new version now supports additional IPDS and AFP formats to help to make sure that all report formats will be supported. Also, there have been improvements to message formatting for PDF email messages.
