Quick Takes: COMMON ready to go

This installment of search400 Quick Takes previews COMMON, and includes industry-related announcements from: Tango/04, BCC Technologies, Sagent and Striva.

COMMON set to begin

According to advance registration figures, the October COMMON conference looks to be well attended. The COMMON IT Education Conference & Expo will be held October 21-25, in Minneapolis, Minn. The 41-year-old user group holds its semi-annual seminars every spring and fall. The theme of the conference is "Going to the Source," because the seminar will be only 90 minutes from Rochester, Minn., a key city in the development and manufacture of the iSeries.

Tango/04's new VISUAL Message Center

Tango/04, a provider of iSeries and Multi-Platform application and system management solutions, announced the VISUAL Message Center Windows Monitor Agent, which now allows IT departments to manage all critical business application events, messages and performance issues on multiple iSeries and Windows servers. The graphical user console centralizes the collection and management of messages and events from both Windows and iSeries, allowing operators to manage those systems effectively with fewer resources.

BCC 10K and Extender family supports all iSeries

BCC Technologies, a provider of storage solutions for the IBM iSeries marketplace, announced today their 10K RPM and 15K RPM Extender Disk Drive (EDD) family now supports all models of IBM's iSeries and AS/400 midrange computers. This complete support of the iSeries is based on newly added connectivity of BCC's disks with IBM's High Speed Link (HSL) that provides the fastest attachment of disks to the iSeries. With this announcement, BCC's EDD family of disk systems now runs on all models of the iSeries that support IBM's super-fast HSL technology for maximum data throughput, including the 270, 820, 830 and 840 iSeries plus 5074 and 5079 Storage Towers.
