I work for a storage resource management software vendor and we are looking at expanding our support to the iSeries. Do you know what the average amount of storage associated with an iSeries is? Also, what is the average distribution between structured (DB2) and an unstructured file type data.
At present, I believe the iSeries is capable of having up to 16 terabytes of disk space. New announcements have come out recently, so this may have increased. I would suggest that you contact IBM or access their Web site looking for iSeries specs for the latest configuration. DB2 co-exists with actual physical files on the iSeries, they are not independent. The licensed internal code on the iSeries allows all DB2 functionality to be immediately available to users.
