I'm using RUNRMTCMD to start up a VB program on a PC to perform Microsoft Word mail merge. Executing the RUNRMTCMD hangs and I have to cancel it. I cannot use STRPCCMD command because I have to use it in a batch environment also.
The question did not mention if the command is hanging all the time and any other information (Error information, error log etc.), we are using RUNRMTCMD with no problem. Check that the remote command service of iSeries Access is up on the PC side.
Sometimes when the program to run -- on the PC -- is more complex, I found that it helps if a better REXECD is replacing the incoming remote command service with a commercial REXED. You can downloaded the REXED here
