Working with *DTAQ in RPGLE

How can I send, or receive data from *DTAQ?

Working with Data Queues in RPGLE is much the same as working with them in any other language. The API's QSNDDTAQ and QRCVDTAQ are called to send and/or receive data in a single transaction.

Call 'QRCVDTAQ'
Parm DTQFUL 10A Data Queue/Library
Parm DTAQLEN 5S 0 Length of Entry
Parm DTAQDTA 128A Variable where the received data will be placed Parm DTAQDLY 5S 0 Length of time to wait for an entry to hit the queue

This is the minimum number of parameters for the Receive. There are additional parameters you must use if you are using a keyed data queue, or need other options.

Call 'QSNDDTAQ'
Parm DTQFUL 10A Data Queue/Library
Parm DTAQLEN 5S 0 Length of Entry
Parm DTAQDTA 128A Variable where the received data will be placed

These are only options for the Send. You can find more information and examples in the System API Programming manual. The RPG/LE example is in Appendix B, 8.3
Good luck,
John
