We currently are on a S170 running V4R5. I understand the end of the service date for this release is Dec. 31, 2002. Can we upgrade to V5R1 or will the 170 not support it?
V5R1 will run just fine on a model 170. You can move ahead with your plan to upgrade before the end of the year. Our upgrade to V5R1 went very smoothly. The key to you having a similar experience is to read the upgrade documentation very carefully and follow it to the letter. If you do this, things will work out just fine. Good Luck.
