I am using the RUNRMTCMD to kick off a VB programs on another server. I am having 'permission' issues. I also have practically no documentation on this command. What object authorities are carried with this command and where do I find documentation on this?
I would assume that you are running the VB program on an NT server of some sort. That would also indicate that you are using *IP connectivity to the remote server and that the remote server is running a "service" that operates on that server. The RUNRMTCMD has a user/password combination that can be passed to use on the remote server, but it is limited to the OS/400 maximum length, and would probably be passed as upper case, if you are using it. There are default user profiles that are used on these systems when making the connection. I would suggest you set up and check the log on the remote system to see what user is being denied access to the VB program and search from there.
