Using CHGPF to change file attributes of core application files

Manually recompiling RPG programs and AS/400 queries is necessary when using the CHGPF command to alter attributes of database files.

I am trying to find the quickest approach to change the length of one of our core application files. If I change the field using CHGPF manner, do I still have to recompile existing RPG programs and AS/400 queries?
Yes, if the CHGPF command (or ALTER TABLE statement) is used to change the length of an existing field, then you would need to recompile the RPG programs and AS/400 queries. The CHGPF command is the quickest way to alter the attributes of your database files, but you'll have to manually process any program recompiles that are needed.
