Use CA to build data files

We have an older CISC system running V3R2 that is only used for historical data. Would it be possible to use Client Access to build data files on a Windows box -- from the CISC system accounting files -- and then query those files to give the user their info?
I'm not sure what it is that you are trying to achieve, however, it is possible to query the data files from Windows by using any ODBC compliant client. For example, there is no problem in using impromptu Access or Excel to connect to the machine via ODBC and query the database (yes' it will run on a CISC machine also).
