Understanding the root file system

I'm an iSeries administrator working on a V5R1 machine. I was wondering why IFS objects, such as STMF, are created with my user profile as the owner even though I have a group profile in my user profile -- with the owner set to *GRPPRF?

They are owned by your profile because the Owner attribute of the user profile is ignored by the system. You have...

not configured anything incorrectly -- that's the way the root file system was designed to work.
