We are currently using a third-party microfiche service to archive data that is legally required to be kept for a number of years. Is it possible to attach a CD writer system to a 720 iSeries system -- currently under V4R5M0 but soon to be V5R1M0?
There seems to be an external DVD-RAM Drive available for your model 720 systems. It is a 7210. It is a PCI device that requires a 2718 External Tape Controller and V5R1. Check here.
You can also create CD's from your current system by utilizing a PC attached CD writer. IBM has written an white paper on this process that you might want to take a look at.
