I received the following message in the job log: "Message queue QHST has already been extended the maximum number of 488 times." An IPL of the machine seems to have rectified the problem.
Why is this happening and how can it be prevented as this happened in a day end job?
Without a little more background, I can't say for sure but I'm guessing that's it's one of two problems. Message queues can reach a maximum size and they are corrected when you re-IPL. If this is the case, you'll probably want to re-IPL your system on a more frequent basis. The other possibility is that you have a lot of QHST files on your system. If this is the case, type GO CLEANUP. From this menu, you can set up automatic cleanup options to keep the number of QHST files to a more reasonable level.
