Should the subsystems be shut down?

One Search400.com member writes, "We have an old model F35 AS/400. I have been advised to do a SAVSYS. Do I need to shut down the subsystems prior to doing save system?" Backup and recovery expert Ken Graap responds.

We have an old model F35 AS/400. I have been advised to do a SAVSYS. Do I need to shut down the subsystems prior to doing save system?
Actually you will need to end ALL the subsystems. A SAVSYS command requires that the system be taken to a Restrictive State.

From a command line enter: GO SAVE ... Then use Option 22.

For a complete description of what Option 22 does, place the cursor on that menu option and hit the F1 key.
