We have a performance problem with the programs written in RPG using the DB2 database. Usually our programs run well, but once in a while they slow down. We don't understand what is causing this slowness. We have used the DSPJRN command to download the database journal to analysis. We've found that at the moment the programs were slowing down, almost all of the database operations, such as "OP","UP","PT","CL" were much slower than usual. Do you know what's going on?
Since you mention the objects are journaled, I'd start by reviewing journal performance. I'd suggest reviewing the following Redbook, "Striving for Optimal Journal Performance on DB2 Universal Database for iSeries".
