Is my syntax valid?

I'm trying to run a wildcard query on a physical file in my iSeries platform from my VBscript asp page. Every time I do so, I get this error.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

[IBM][Client Access Express ODBC Driver (32-bit)][DB2/400 SQL]SQL0104 - Token % was not valid. Valid tokens: ( ? : USER CURRENT

My SQL statement is SQL="SELECT * FROM FILENAME WHERE FIELDNAME LIKE %1234% "

I've used %,*,and ? as the wildcard symbol, but still the physical file does not recognize it.

What's going on?

Your query has no valid syntax.

Here is the syntax:

SQL="SELECT * FROM FILENAME WHERE FIELDNAME LIKE '%1234%'
