ILE COBOL error when dividing by zero

I want to let an ILE COBOL program cause an error when a dividing by zero occurs without using the ON ERROR option. I believe it has to do with the floating point masking bit. But how do I set this in a COBOL program and make it valid for the rest of the job?
I'm not sure what you are after here. It's easy to detect a potential divide-by-zero -- just test the divisor; if it's zero, don't do the divide, and perform whatever corrective processing you want to.
