How much disk space was allocated to IFS?
How can I tell how much disk space was allocated to IFS and how much of it is used/available? Can some of the disk space be allocated back to AS/400 space? Is there some type of disk utilization reporting available?
There is a feature of OS/400 that collects disk storage information and then provides a set of reports for analysis. To get to this feature, type GO DISKTASKS from any command line.
Use Option 1 "Collect disk space information" to schedule a regular collection of data.
Use Option 2 "Print disk space information" to run reports from this collected information.
Here is an excerpt from the "System Report":
System Information Information collected . . . : 09/23/01 15:00:01 Customize options specified for this report: Report type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *LIB Total disk space on system in 1,000,000 Libraries . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *ALL bytes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 927713 Size of smallest library . . . . . . . : 0 Main storage size in megabytes . . . . . : 16384 Sort by . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *SIZE Machine type-model . . . . . . . . . . . : 9406-730 System serial number . . . . . . . . . . : 10-0D90M % of Size in Description Disk 1,000,000 bytes User libraries 62.92 583757.74 User directories 2.09 19348.02 Folders and documents .27 2547.23
The IFS data is listed as "User directories" on this report.
As for allocating some of this data back to AS/400 space, it is all AS/400 space. The AS/400 is a single-level storage system. Unless you purposely separate disks into multiple Auxiliary Storage Pools (ASP), all data, system libraries, user libraries, user directories and folders are spread evenly over all disks.
