How long are they logged on to our system?

We have clients that dial in to our iSeries 400 and we would like to determine the amount of time they are logged on to our system. How can we accomplish this?

The easiest and quickest way to do this is to use QHST and only display beginning and completion messages. This method will show all beginning and completion messages but will not show you elapsed time. Ex. DSPLOG MSGID(CPF1124 CPF1164)

Another way to do this is to use the security-auditing journal if you have security auditing enabled. Ex. DSPJRN JRN(QAUDJRN) JRNCDE((T)) ENTTYP(JS) Using the auditing journal will allow you to better fine tune your selection, but it still will not give you an elapsed time. It will also be easier to read.
