On the IBM Web site for Client Express you can get a free copy of Client Express. You can download this to your PC at home or the office and download files from the iSeries 400 in Excel with very little security. I say this because I have been hit. Why is this software all over the Internet?
Access to the software to allow a user to access the iSeries 400 is a good thing. For many years, we couldn't access AS/400's without a terminal emulator or a 5250 card (converted data from EBCDIC to ASCII and reverse). The security on your system is based on the security you put on your system. There are a number of ways to secure your system and access to that data from the outside. Check the other answers in the experts category and in the forums for exit programs and securing your data.
