Force the Telnet server to do a periodic check

I have about 200 IBM PCs running Client Access. When any of the computers freeze, and require a reboot, the session to the iSeries doesn't end, so that I have to go in and manually end the job. Is this common, is there a fix for this, or is there some configuration that needs to be changed on the 400 so that the sessions end pretty quickly?

This is typical to Telnet server. The server does not know that the other side "dropped" and it thinks that nobody wants to talk to it. :)

The fix is easy: You should force the Telnet server to do a "periodic check" to find out if the other side is alive.

This is how you do it:

CHGTELNA TIMMRKTIMO(60)

This will check the connection to the client every 60 seconds -- which is good enough most of the time.
