FTPing spreadsheet to the iSeries

I have a spreadsheet on a PC that I have saved as a .prn file (formatted text). When I FTP this file to the iSeries, the records get "split". The first 240 characters writing as a record, the remaining 238 characters writing as a second record. Is there a limitation for this (256) or is there a parameter I am missing?
This is not supposed to happen, however, you may try to FTP the file to an existing file. i.e.

1. CRTPF FILE(LONGFILE)
RCDLEN(450)

2. FTP the file and user in the script:

put MYprnfile Longfile (replace
