FTP a physical file via an iSeries modem connection

I'm trying to figure out a way to FTP a physical file via an iSeries modem connection on a regular basis. I have read about using FTP over a PPP connection, but I cannot find any references as to how this is done. I have not worked with PPP before. I used the OpsNav wizard to set up a PPP profile. I can get it to dial, but it errors out on the authentication. I'm familiar with FTP via our LAN, but I cannot figure out how to tell FTP to go out over the modem as opposed to our LAN adapter card.

If it is a specific IP address, you can add a route entry by using CFGTCP. You will need to use Option 2 -- Work with TCP routes. Add an entry for your specific IP address using that IP as the preferred binding interface. When you connect to that IP using FTP, the system will route it over that connection when it is active.
