Directly access DB2 data on an iSeries

Is it possible to directly access DB2 data on an iSeries using PHP application code running Apache Web Server residing ON the iSeries?

Because PHP only connects to DB2 via the ODBC Driver and the configuration is based on an NT or Unix installation, I would say no. The PHP documentation states that the compiler option required would be (Vers 4.1.0 or later): --with-ibm-db2[=DIR] Include IBM DB2 support. DIR is the DB2 base install directory, defaults to /home/db2inst1/sqllib.
