Creating a batch job to determine the size of all directories

I want to make a batch job that would run for a week and give me the sizes of all directories and "files" in the IFS-file system. Is this possible?

I would create a CL that issues a QSH CMD ('ls -l >dir.txt') for the first directory, and 'ls -l >>dir.txt' for each subsequent directory you want to size. You can the read the text file and extract the numbers to find the total sizes. You wouldn't want to do this for the entire IFS, as there are thousands of system objects that remain static.
