We are using the CPYTOIMPF command to copy a externally described file from an iSeries to an IFS folder. We are using the following command:
CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(TRETTER/MSDSREQF) TOSTMF('/home/Testing_MSDS_FILES.TXT') STMFCODPAG(*PCASCII) RCDDLM(*CRLF) DTAFMT(*FIXED) STRDLM(*NONE) FLDDLM(' ')
The file is created and looks good. The problem is any other user -- other than the user who copied (ME) the file -- cannot open the TXT file. We are getting an 'Access Denied' error. Can you help us to figure out what the problem might be?
This is indeed an authority issue that can be resolved by one of the following:
1. Target your CPYTOIMPF command to copy the file to a directory with public authority (many times TMP is such a directory).
2. After the command CPYTOIMPF, issue the CHGAUT command as follows:
chgaut obj('/home/Testing_MSDS_FILES.TXT) USER(*PUBLIC) DTAAUT(*R)
