Please recommend the best way to convert iSeries output into a PDF and then e-mail it to recipients. The programs generating the output are written in COBOL. We are licensed for Infoprint Server.
If you already have Infoprint Server licensed and runnings, then you have numerous choices. The approach you take really depends on what your goal is. For example, if you always want output for USERJOE to be e-mailed, then you would create a print writer and output queue using Infoprint Server and set it up to use Mapping Objects. In the mapping entries you would specify that any spooled file belonging to USERJOE was to be e-mailed to him -- etc. for the other users. You can also set up an "e-mail" output queue and send things on an ad-hoc basis by putting the destination information into the USRDFNDTA area. The language used to generate the output is not really relevant.
