Changing default message replies

One user writes, "I've changed the default answer (C) from cpf4101 to (D) with CHGMSGD MSGID (CPf4101) MSGF(QCPFMSG) DFT('D'). I've also put an entry in the SYSRPLY: ADDRPYLE SEQNBR (12) MSGID(CPF4101) with reply *dft (which is now actually D, so that's good). But each cpf4101 message still remains its C. What must I do to obtain a D? I'm running on OS/400 V5R2."

The only thing that I can think of is that there is a Reply entry before sequence 12 that may be causing the issue. Otherwise, everything looks good.
