Capturing the record change

We have journaling run on our iSeries. How can my RPG program capture the record change recorded by journaling?
Well, you can get journal images in several ways -- using RTVJRNE, RTVJRNE, DSPJRN to provide data for your program, or using the Journalling APIs Click here for more information.

Even if you do not use journalling and commitment control on your system, you can still get before and after images of a database record by adding a database trigger to a file. Click here for programming examples (there's a link there to an ILE RPG example). The advantage of database triggers is that your trigger program captures the snapshot AS IT HAPPENS, not some time afterwards.
