Summary:
IBM introduced HMC for logical partition support on the pSeries when it introduced its Power 4 Technology. With the announcement of the Power 5 technology in May, the company is continuing the process of consolidating server hardware. The eServer i5 can now run i5/OS and AIX natively on the Power 5 server, as well as Linux. The HMC provides a single control point for managing hardware and Capacity Upgrade on Demand (CUoD) across multiple operating systems, and eliminates the need for a 'Primary Partition' on the iSeries. What will that mean from an implementation and systems management perspective? Allyn Walsh explains in this expert webcast.
