Sort your TCP/IP host table entries by host name

If you have a lot of entries in your TCP/IP host table (CFGTCP, option 10), you have probably been frustrated by the fact that the table is sorted by IP address rather than host name. Here's a way to view or print them, sorted by the host name instead.

You can execute this statement from interactive SQL, if you have that product installed.

Need to use it on a system that doesn't have fancy tools like SQL installed? Just use the EDTF command (if no SEU either) to place this into a source file member. Then use the CRTQMQRY command to compile it and the STRQMQRY command to run it.

SELECT * FROM QATOCHOST ORDER BY HOSTNME1, INTERNET
