Options for easing file transfers

If your users do a lot of file transfers from the AS/400 using Client Access /Express, then this tip might be of use.

When transferring a physical file, you can retrieve selected records by clicking on 'Data Options' Tab on the data transfer screen. On the 'Change data options' window you can select the fields, select sorting,specify selection parameters. You can also click the 'Details' tab to view all the available fields in the physical file and perfom functions like Average, Sum, Count, Minimum, Maximum, etc.

On the Clinet Access 'Data Transfer From AS400' screen, you can click on the 'Details' Tab to select the output Format which can be Text,CSV,Excel, Lotus , etc. The transfer definition can be saved and directly called for later use.

Using these options will eliminate users' time to run a query on AS400 and later on convert the data in Excel or other format.?
