Client Access provides a wonderful tool bar for downloading data to Excel. If it's not already installed, open Excel and go to Tools / Addin / Browse. Locate the Client Access toolbar usually in directory C:Program FilesIBMClient AccessShared. The tool bar is named "cwbtfxla.xll", double click it and back out the screens. The new tool allows downloads from iSeries 400 databases using SQL selection screens. It allows join files, group functions, order by etc. Now combine this extracted data with an Excel Pivot table and you can really impress your users. We created an extract file of sales history that we update daily with new data and the users have been creating their own adhoc reports.
