Database relations and file usage

In regards to database relations and file usage, not only do you need to know what a physical files database relations are, but also what programs use it and in what capacity.

I run a job every weekend to collect all database relations into a database file. This allows me to run reports against a physical file to locate all programs that use it or any of it's logical files.

/* FILE CROSS REFERENCE REPORT */

Once a week I run the following command in Job Scheduler:

DSPPGMREF PGM(*ALL/*ALL) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTFILE(PGMREFPF)

Click here to view the code.
