Use this tip to send an iSeries 400 file/library via e-mail to be used by another iSeries in five easy steps.

1. Create a save file (CRTSAVF)

2. Save the file/library (SAVOBJ/SAVLIB)
Use the DTACPR(*YES) parameter.

3. FTP to your AS/400 ?
Set ftp into BINary mode ?
GET the file to your PC

4. Compose a new e-mail and attach the file.

5. Just send.

It is important to use the DTACPR(*YES) parameter as this reduces your object size considerably. It is also important to use the BINARY command within FTP. Just remember that when the person on the receiving iSeries FTPs it back to their iSeries the save file must be created in there FIRST.
