WEBSPHERE STRATEGIES FOR ISERIES PROFESSIONALS
User profile mysteriously disabled

If you have an iSeries mapped to a network drive and Windows XP configured to automatically connect the drives at Windows startup time, there is a problem if your Windows Network user ID is different from your iSeries user ID.
Occasionally, when getting the authentication box in Windows Explorer you enter your iSeries user ID and password and receive a "denied access" error. If you look at your user profile on the iSeries, it does not appear to be disabled and it will allow you to sign on with no problem -- directly on the iSeries. For some reason, there is a "network neighborhood" side of your user profile that gets disabled and will not let you connect to the iSeries via a mapped drive in Windows Explorer. This can be fixed by simply executing the CHGUSRPRF command on the iSeries with your user ID and just press Enter. It can also be fixed by getting into iSeries Navigator and go to the iSeries NetServer TCP/IP server under Network, Servers, TCP/IP and right-click. The window will come up that will show all iSeries user IDs that are disabled from connecting to the iSeries via a network drive. Select the user ID(s) that are desired and click on the Enable User ID button.
