An alternative to using WRKLNK to navigate the IFS is to use the DSPF or EDTF commands that have been available since V4R4. By specifying a directory (rather than an individual stream file) in the STMF parameter of either the DSPF or EDTF commands then an almost 'Explorer'-type display is presented allowing for a larger, more navigable view of the current selected directory -- drilling up and down a directory tree structure is much more user friendly than the traditional WRKLNK views.

Users can still edit, view and delete stream files as they would using WRKLNK. In addition there are options to perform Recursive Deletes against an entire directory tree, as well as display the Path Size of a selected directory tree that provides a directory count, a file count and an sum of the sizes of all files.xc
