Wouldn't it be convenient to run SQL with output to an Excel file? RPG direct export DB2 data to Excel, Excel sheet creation RPG sample program, RPG produced IFS file directly readable by Excel: the power of SpreadSheetML, the XML format of Office 2003 Excel spread sheets.

Follow these three samples provided below to produce Excel sheets with RPG –- no other software is needed. You can control exactly what is extracted from your databases. For example, there is no longer a need to give users extraction tools. More, you can programmatically run your extraction, and then apply security rules on these Excel sheets -- they stay in the iSeries.
