In a recent Search400.com Q&A someone wanted to know if there was a way to generate a report/file to display users, password expiration levels and date password expires. Security expert Carol Woodbury responded, "Running the Print user profile command specifying that you want to see password information (PRTUSRPRF *PWDINFO will get you the password last changed date and the expiration interval. However, if you want the actual date when the password expires, you'll have to do that calculation yourself - it's not stored anywhere on the system.

I'd like to also add that the Retrieve User Information (QSYRUSRI) API may be used to retrieve User profile information for specific user profiles. It can be run on specific user profiles OR you can first run the List Authorized Users (QSYLAURU) API to generate a listing of all profiles on the system and then run QSYRUSRI. Depending on the format you choose to use, you will be able to retrieve the password expiration interval, the date password expires, and even days until password expires. In other words, you can let the system do the password expiration calculations. Use the following link to the IBM website for more information on the QSYRUSRI and QSYLAURU APIs.

Another day...another code...the cosmic ballet goes on...
