ISERIES SECURITY TIPS
Customize user authority on the iSeries

You don't need expensive add-on software to customize user authority on the iSeries, just use iSeries Navigator. Go to Users and Groups, right-click on User, click properties, click Capabilities. From there you can set user privileges, auditing, passwords, and function authority. Click on the Applications Tab and you will see a list box for Navigator, Host, and Client functions. You can deny or allow functions such as ODBC, data transfer, FTP capabilities to or from the iSeries, Remote Command execution, IFS file access and many others. Well worth checking out if you want to make setting security simple without spending a lot of money.
