Set your iSeries to synchronize time with the U.S Naval Observatory by using the iSeries command CHGNTPA.

CHGNTPA: The Change Network Time Protocol Attributes (CHGNTPA) command is used to change configurable Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) service attributes. The changes take effect the next time the SNTP service is started either by the Start TCP/IP (STRTCP) command or by the Start TCP/IP Server (STRTCPSVR) command.

Many companies use the NTP on the Windows/Unix/iSeries servers to keep the Server farm's internal clocks in sync, and may also run their own NTP server internally. Be sure to check with your systems administrators for the correct remote system name to use in your environment. You may also need to review your QTIMZON system value to ensure it is set correctly. The iSeries can serve as either a NTP client or NTP server

The iSeries can also sync up to the official USNO NTP servers found here.

Code

We only use the client portion and sync up to our own internal NTP server on a Windows Exchange server:
