iTera's Echo2 High Availability Version 4.0

When your business needs to run 24x7, you have to be able to quickly get your backup environment running in the event of an outage. Downtime is not an option. iTera Inc. understands that and has enhanced its Echo2 High Availability to meet that need.

Echo2 is iSeries high availability software that effectively replicates data to a backup iSeries environment in real time in order to eliminate or reduce downtime from tape saves, system management tasks, system failures or site disasters. Additionally, the product allows companies to move reporting, queries, data warehouseing and other workloads to a secondary operating environtment.

Key enhancements in Echo2 4.0 include the following:

  • A redesigned, patent-pending record-level data auditing process to verify the accurate replication of data
  •

  • Enhanced capabilities that more efficiently handle the replication of large quantities of IFS objects as well as large IFS objects
  •

  • IFS replication is now audited at both the record level (where applicable) and object level
  •

  • Full support for replication of file triggers, referential contstraints and WebSphere MQ
  •

  • The ability to automatically have alert messages sent from the high availability monitor to designated message queues to trigger paging, text messaging, e-mail messages, etc.
  • "The product's use of IBM's remote journaling is key to providing an easy to use, good performing replication product," one judge said. "The enhancement of new record-level auditing and the enhanced capabilities to handle the replication of large quantities of IFS objects and large-sized IFS objects better positions the product to meet more customers' needs and requirements."

The judges were also impressed with how easy it is to install and use Echo2. This version has significantly expanded system analysis and setup tools that reduce the installation time to just a few hours. When the product is installed on the source environment, it is automatically installed on the target environment. Further, no downtime is required on the production environment during product installation.

"The ease and time of installation and setup, along with the single screen system monitor for locating and resolving problems, is another area that makes this product attractive to customers," one judge said.
