iSeries vs Windows server for ERP
Results as of: 4:11 PM EST, 03 Dec 2008

1. Recently, IT mega-blog Slashdot.org asked its readers to help a user choose a platform for a new ERP implementation for a small company. The choices were Windows and iSeries. If you had to bet your career on it, which platform would you pick if you had a clean slate to work with?
ABCD
A: Buy an iSeries; you can run i5OS, AIX, and Linux. Set it up, let it run and forget it. It's indestructible. Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM. - 65 %
B: Go Windows. There are plenty of ERP products for Windows and the price point for the software scales to SMB business needs. Plus, x86 hardware is inexpensive. - 3 %
C: Forget hardware, pick the right ERP first. Don't let a botched ERP implementation dump more work on your head. - 28 %
D: Why are you asking me? It's not my job to pick an ERP or an operating environment. The execs get paid to make those decisions. I get paid to make it work. - 2 %
