Infrastructure software company Lakeview Technology announced its High Availability software solutions support IBM's next release of OS/400 called i5/OS V5R3 and the IBM eServer i5, the first iSeries system to be powered by the highly anticipated POWER5 microprocessors.
"Our close partnership with IBM ensures our development efforts are in lock step. As IBM developed V5R3, we worked along side them testing our MIMIX solutions and exchanging feedback," said Paula Stewart, Lakeview Technology's product strategy director. "Lakeview customers benefit from this partnership because they can immediately take advantage of IBM's new release and feel confident their MIMIX solutions will continue to run smoothly," Stewart said.
"The i5/OS V5R3 is an exciting release for our customers because it includes new features, such as DB2 UDB, journaling and communication enhancements," she said. "It also includes availability functionalities and extends on-demand computing with on/off capacity upgrade. MIMIX supports these features so customers get the resources they need when they need them. i5/OS includes more autonomic functionality. Lakeview's self-managing and self-healing capabilities compliment IBM's autonomics. For example, with MIMIX' s Availability Co-pilot users know the availability status of their environment at a glance."
IBM announced i5/OS will support cross-site mirroring. MIMIX leverages this new technology to deliver a complete HA and disaster recovery solution with replication of base system objects, integrated switching and recovery, and autonomics for ease of use.
IBM's new servers and operating system offer exceptional power, flexibility and cost benefits for all customers, from small shops and medium sized businesses to the largest enterprise.

The IBM i5/OS and MIMIX high availability solutions are targeted for general release at the end of June 2004.
