Tips for performing a daily check of your iSeries system

2. DSPFD with MBR option tells me what files need to be cleaned up or re-organized.

3. DLTSPLF: I wrote a clean-up routine, to display out-queues, determine the date of reports, and to delete if more than 3/14/31 days old.

4. Created a menu: MENUIT option

No more fumbling with commands/syntax! This cheat sheet contains all of the daily commands used by any iSeries shop. (My listing is incomplete, but it gives you the idea.)

5. I created a user program to unlock a LCKW user. We have RF (18) scanners and they lock/drop three to four times a day –- now the user can unlock themselves. The program uses WRKUSRJOB and WRKACTJOB to get relevant information.

Item #4 is my favorite, plus the IT department loves it -- the Windows folks especially!

Advice for other iSeries users: Use GO MAIN to get to your destination. If ever in doubt, use WRKCMD *ALL to see all that is Log on to the IBM iSeries Web site and read!
