Kisco Information Systems announced the availability of version 7.04 of their flagship security product, SafeNet/400. In addition to minor fixes, this update includes support for the Showcase exit point. "This release is much more than just a regular PTF update," says Kisco president, Rich Loeber. "Rather, in response to numerous customer requests, it adds important new functionality."
Showcase is a common third-party tool with its own built-in ODBC driver that, to date, has been invisible to the iSeries-AS/400, resulting in a significant security exposure for many large installations. With SafeNet/400's new support for the Showcase Exit Point, their ODBC driver is visible and the security hole is closed. Kisco's implementation of the Showcase Exit Point lets customers control the user profiles that can use Showcase ODBC and which objects each user can access.
